Fifteen startups from Sweden, Finland, and Estonia are going to Stockholm to take part in the second sprint of Growth and Scaling Through AI (GSAI), our international scale-up program led by Movexum, AI Sweden, Tehnopol and Yrityssalo. The initiative is designed to strategically and practically implement AI applications into the startups’ business model or product to scale efficiently in the European markets.

– Already after the first sprint in Gävle, we have seen tangible progress among several of the Swedish startups. One company has even secured new international business by applying AI-driven approaches to their business model. This is exactly the kind of fast and efficient impact we want GSAI to deliver – helping startups unlock growth opportunities that would otherwise take years to achieve – with the power of AI, says Jini Nälsen, Project Manager at Movexum.

From vision to execution

The first sprint, Scaling Launchpad, was hosted by Movexum in Gävle earlier this summer. There, startups focused on defining their growth potential and building the foundation for international expansion. Now, in Stockholm, attention shifts to AI Studio – two action-oriented days led by AI Sweden.

– One of the tools we’ll introduce in the sprint is the AI Opportunity Mapping Workshop – it helps organisations turn ambition into action by building a clear roadmap, prioritising use cases, and aligning teams around what successful AI adoption really requires, says Astrid Sjögren, Sector Initiative Manager at AI Sweden.

Tools, knowledge, and inspiration

AI Studio offers a mix of workshops and expert-led sessions, giving startups the opportunity to identify and prioritize concrete AI opportunities in their businesses. A key element is the AI Opportunity Mapping Workshop, which helps teams transform ambition into action through structured roadmaps and prioritised use cases.

The sprint also features contributions from leading practitioners:
  • The o Bergqvist, CEO of Turbotic, on how to scale with AI.
  • Niclas Johansson, Data Scientist at Tenfifty, on practical lessons from implementing AI projects.
  • Peter Kurzwelly, AI Strategist at AI Sweden, on the Growth Playbook with AI.
  • Dr. Bobby Bridges, Innovation Leader at AI Sweden, on why AI safety must be part of the journey from day one.
Why startups, why now

GSAI taps into a group with unique potential. Startups often lack the luxury of time – they must move quickly, experiment, and adapt. This agility makes them prime candidates for AI adoption.

– With their fast-moving and resource-efficient ways of working, startups can pioneer AI solutions that later inspire and benefit larger companies as well, says Alexander Brunner, Startup Partner Manager at AI Sweden.

A cross-border partnership

Movexum leads GSAI in partnership with AI Sweden, Yrityssalo (Finland), and Tehnopol (Estonia). The program runs for three years and supports 45 startups in total. Over the course of the program, participants will meet in Gävle, Stockholm, Salo, and Tallinn – each sprint focusing on a different aspect of scaling with AI.

GSAI is co-funded by the Interreg Central Baltic Programme.
